3 Reasons Why You Should Accept Yourself And Embrace Your Differences

It can be challenging to unconditionally accept yourself, embrace your differences and sit with vulnerabilities. Many struggle with perfectionism. Others battle low self-esteem. Some have forgotten who they are as they work tirelessly to please everyone. We all have our challenges! However, self-acceptance is a particular challenge area that is fairly widespread.

I’m sure you’ve heard the tagline, “Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.” The idea that personal worth is directly tied to to appearance is simply not true! We’ve all undergone some level of conditioning regarding who we should be, how we should look, how we should act and etc. When we’re practicing self-acceptance, we’re able to embrace all facets of ourselves. Unconditional self-acceptance is free from judgement. It’s this incredible place where we are able to recognize our strengths and weaknesses. Extending acceptance, gratitude and love to yourself feels amazing

Here are the top 3 reasons why you should accept yourself and embrace your differences!

1. Happiness becomes a natural state of mind when you accept yourself

When you are self-critical, you cut yourself off from the flow of abundance that is your birthright! It is time that you declare the truth to the universe. “I am beautiful! I am worthy! I am talented! I deserve a life filled with happiness, abundance and joy!”  When you accept yourself, happiness is not dependent upon losing weight, getting a promotion or taking a wild adventure. While those things make us feel good, true happiness exists in the present moment. Happiness is a natural state of mind when you accept yourself!

2. You are more likely to accomplish your goals and dreams

When you accept yourself you begin to see and experience the world in a whole new light. Instead of putting that great idea on the back burner because it seemed so illogical, you begin to see it’s vast potential. More importantly, self-acceptance looks beyond so-called failures. It cares less about what others think and more about what you truly desire! In the words of my teacher and mentor Dr. Robert Holden, “Circumstances and situations do color life, but you have been given the mind to choose what the color shall be.”

When you accept yourself, you are much likely to accomplish your goals because you believe in your power.

3. You get radically honest with yourself

Those that put self-acceptance into practice hold themselves accountable. You no longer hide behind defense mechanisms when you accept yourself unconditionally. You recognize how strong you really are and that there is great power in coming face-to-face with everything. When you’re honest with yourself, you’re also more willing to listen to constructive feedback. Your heart opens and you’re more willing to ask for help when you need it!

When you accept yourself, you can observe objectively and share your honest truth.
